I have some DVCAM footage shot in wide screen and want to incorporate it into a Final Cut project that is 720P HDV. Is there a way to up rez in Final Cut and gain some resolution with FC? Any thoughts on this? Only need to do one clip but don’t want it to look grainy or have a lack of resolution. Thought? Thanks

Doing it in FCP will not yield very good results. Doing it in COmpressor, Shake or something like Instant HD (Redgiant.com) would be much better. If you have access to hardware conversion, even better and faster. I use a laptop w/ a IoHD and a MacPro with a Kona3 card if I need to upRez.

Quality will also reflect the quality of the original footage, if it is grainy/noisy it will be more so when you upRez.

    Hi Mike,
    I agree with Michael 100%.
The quality of your movie will depends on this process.
I’m very happy downscaling in FC, but for up-scalling Compressor, AE, Shake, Motion,..
Shane Ross have a tutorial for up-scaling DV to 720 in Compressor.
Basically setting the Frame Control: ON, and de-interlacing the footage.
