    Hi guys,

I need help regarding my poor project file which I can not open right now.

FCP keeps on giving error message “the file is unreadable or may be too new for this version of final cut” I’m on fcp 6.0.2 so there is no way that the file is too new.

I’ve done more research than ever on this matter through the net and have learned that some people actually have experienced this matter and most of them got their project files either

    1. successfuly opened in another computer
    2. successfuly opened by logging on as a different user
    3. successfuly opened by luck ??

    but not mine.. 🙁

I have tried logging in as a different user (although not sure about the correct procedure) but that didn’t do it.

I have tried repairing permission and trashing preferences using fcp rescue but that didn’t do it either.

I’m out of ideas and would really appreaciate it if someone can help me out of this problem.

Thanks a lot guys, much appreaciated.

    Santo

    Two things to try.

Open the project on one of those other computers and change the name. Something as simple as adding “REV 1” to the end. Try to open the revised project in your system.

    Or.

Open the project on one of the other computers.

    Open a New Project.

Drag all the bins and Sequences from the original project into the New Project.

Save the New Project with a slightly different name, again maybe just REV 1.

Now open that project in your new system.

    Thanks for the reply Walter,

One question though, How can I save as the project file if I can’t even open it on fcp?

do you mean renaming it because I’ve tried it with no luck.
