Uninterruptible Power Supplies
Hopefully not too far away from a “config” question… as I think we are all interested in not having our work go “poof”.
The obvious solution (which I did on the cheap) is simply run down to Staples and buy the 540 Watt APC UPS, one for each MacPro, plus one for support equipment (scopes, monitors, etc.).
What I’m finding is that they aren’t really enough — either in terms of overall load (especially if all the drives are spinning), extremely short off-mains reserve power, and the lead-acid batteries in them don’t last very long before they either start leaking (yikes) or don’t re-charge.
What would (deity of your choice) do?
