    Hi,

Compressor wouldn’t start for me. So I searched this site to see if anyone else had issues. Someone suggested to reinstall Compressor and also provided a link to the Apple site, which has instructions for properly uninstalling Compressor.

After following the directions, custom installation will only let me uncheck Motion. All the other programs of FCS2 are checked and greyed, so I can’t uncheck them. That’s a problem because I only want to install Motion and Compressor.

So I figured I’d uninstall FCS2 entirely and then reinstall everything. My problem is I cannot find instructions for properly uninstalling FCS2. Can anyone provide me with that information? Or could someone tell me why custom installation will not let me uncheck any programs except Motion?

    Thank you.

If you’re reinstalling FCP, you have to install all the other apps as all their frameworks work somewhat together, what you don’t have to reinstall is all the media/templates. If you install the bare bones applications it goes very fast.

Try that first, then update FCS using software update.

I’m not trying to reinstall FCP. What I really want to do it only reinstall Compressor and Motion since the instructions I read on the Apple site said to trash Motion.

The problem comes when I try to do a custom installation. The dialog box has everything grayed and checked. So I can’t uncheck the programs I do not want to install; aka, the already install programs (FCP, Soundtrack, etc.)

You’re misunderstanding, Rob. You can’t just install one program or another, you have to reinstall all the apps, then update them in “Software Update”. Just turn off all the extra media and templates and the process will go very fast.

    Oh OK, I understand. Thanks.

I think I will still have a problem though. Because all the programs are grayed in the custom installation window, it won’t let me toggle a program to uncheck the extra media for that program. Does that make sense? I’ll give it a go and see what happens.

Use FCS Remover to uninstall the whole studio and then reinstall. I have found it best to remove all of them together because as Jeremy says they are all connected to each other.

I used FCS Remover and it seems to have worked, but now when I try to reinstall the bundle, I cannot install Compressor or QMaster. They are grayed and not checked in the custom installation window. This is so weird.

yea, I usually do say what solved my problem, but it was already mentioned in this thread: Use FCS Remover and then reinstall the whole bundle. The last issue with items being grayed out was me just having brain fart.

    Hey,

What did you “figure out” about the greyed out compressor?

I think I figured it out too but I want confirmation.

    Thank you!
