I have an uncompressed HD timeline. 720p23.98. Timeline and clip settings are the same, since clips play out in real time. I made these clips by converting DPX files to Quicktime using Framelink – YCbCr 10-bit. (why DPX? long story, don’t ask)

When I compress this using Compressor and using a setting of DVCProHD 720p23.98 for the codec, I have a new Quicktime that looks visibly darker in my system monitor. These files play normally (wihout rendering needed, but darker) in a DVCProHD timeline.

I haven’t checked on an external monitor as I don’t have a HD monitor attached to this system.
Even outside FCP, if I open the UC Quicktime and the DVCProHD Quicktime in QT Player, the difference is apparent.

Anyone seen this? Is this that ‘luma shift’ issue that use to happen some drivers ago?
