    hi,

I’m occaisonally getting an error message that reads ‘Error Unknown File’ when attempting to save. I then cannot save my project and have to rebuild from the last successfull save point. This version was recently installed and i was first getting the problem if i copied a clip from one timeline to another. A software update fixed this – but now the problem has returned… Anyone else have this or a solution? I am fully updated now…

(I’m usually saving to a SAN if that matters)

    Thanks,

    Neil

Believe it or not, this has to do with your Still Memory Cache. I don’t know why, but if you up the Still Memory Cache to at least 30%, that error should go away.

I have 4GB RAM and I upped it to 50% and the error went away (default is 10%). Definitely a bug in the program and I guess it wasn’t fixed with 5.0.2.

I had a similar problem on FCP 4.5. In my case it was some sort of disk problem.

I discovered I could save the projects to other drives, so I saved it on my media drive, then I ran disk utilities (rebuild permisions) on the primary drive where I save my projects. After that things worked.
