unable to run FCP6 and Compressor 3 in Dual-G4 mirrored drive door
Dear fellow cows,
Today I tried to install a legit copy of Final Cut Studio 2 on my old Mirrored Drive Door dual G4 1.25MHz with 2GB of RAM.
The installer ran fine, besides warning me that my machine didn’t have the OpenGL features expected to run the suite.
After installing, all the apps except Final Cut Pro ana Compressor ran fine. Final Cut Pro states upon opening that “the installed graphics card doesn’t support the Open GL features recomended for Final Cut Pro. This configuration is not supported. If you choose to continue… bla, bla, bla”. It gives me two options: quit and continue. When I cliock continue, the app just quits.
I understand there’s a workaround for this, but after almost an hour of searching here I didn’t find one that works.
Could anyone of you shed some light in this poor Brazilian editor???

I would consider getting a more powerful graphics card. Aren’t the OpenGL features of Core Image, Video and Animation all passed off to the graphics card to handle, anyway? They aren’t that expensive, and you don’t need a top of the line one. If you have a local computer shop, you might even ask if they have a 128 MB card that someone just dumped to put in something bigger for gaming that they’d let you try.
Just a thought. It’s what I”m hoping for here, as I have to get a new card to work in color in the office…

I had the same problem.
The stock ATI Radeon 9600 that came with the Mirrored Door won’t even let you launch Final Cut. It just crashes. You need a more powerful card. After some help with upper level Apple tech support, we discovered that their minimum system requirements on their website was incorrect. I eventually found a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Mac edition card with 256 Mb of VRAM on eBay and it all worked.
