unable to render ANY AVI files!!! Sony Vegas Error: An Error occurred while creating the media file. An error occurred while opening a codec
I can ONLY render files uncompressed!!! IT DOESN’T MATTER what codec I try to render with I ALWAYS get the following error: Error An Error occurred while creating the media file. An error occurred while opening a codec
IT WILL ONLY ALLOW RENDERING WITHOUT CODECS AND UNCOMPRESSED!!!!

Frustrating as it may seem, a little more info on your Vegas version and setup might help to get answers, also have you added any third party codec packs?
Windows 7 Pro64, i7 CPU, 16GB RAM, SSD boot drive, GTX 570 Graphics, Vegas Pro 12

Reinstall Vegas and disable your GPU…
