November 10, 2011 at 8:56 amGot it now. I had to uncheck the remove pulldown check box upon ingest. Any idea why this was? I don’t really understand pull down see this unanswered thread,

Thanks in advance if you can help
(incidentally I couldn’t import this clip into FCP 7 either)

Pulldown happens when you are shooting at a frame rate less than the baseband video requires.
Since you are shooting 720p50, there’s no pulldown.
If you shot 720pN25 the video signal out of the hdsdi would be 720p25 with 2:2 pulldown, which means every frame is repeated to get to 50p which is needed to view on a monitor.
Shooting pN means that the pulldown is NOT recorded on to the p2 card and your files will be 25 frames.
If you shoot 720p25 (not N), pulldown IS recorded so you will have a 25p look in a 50 frame stream.
We almost always shoot in pN mode, but we use 24p being in the states and all.
For FCP7 try unchecking the “remove duplicate frames and advanced pulldown” box on the log and transfer preferences.
