  • Unable to import mpg files to Adobe Encore 1.5 from Sony 403E DVD Handycam

I m trying to make a DVD from the footages I have from my Sony 403E DVD Handycam. The footage is in mpg format and the audio is AC3 format 5.1 channels (Dolby). When I import the file either as asset or as a timeline I get error message that the file is corrupted (no the case) or not supported which I believe it has to do with the 5.1 sound format. On the Adobe Encore DVD About box it says that 5.1 audio channels is supported. I have found a workaround to convert the mpg file to plain stereo audio format but it’s very time consuming and practically, with all these files I get from filming, it cannot be considered as a solution. So what may be wrong? Any ideas?

The issue might be that the AC3 audio is muxed with the MPEG file. (Joe Bowden may be able to confirm that for us.) You’ll probably have to separate (demux) the file and import the video and audio streams separately.
