    Hello,

I am having trouble getting a composite signal to FCP.

I can see the video on my monitor from the composite OUT on the IO LA however when I use the Composite Easy Setup on FCP I don’t see video on Log and Capture only the Preview Disabled message.

When I shutdown FCP and open up the ProIO Control Panel it tells me No video on the Analog IN.

The Analog input Video Format is set to: Composite

    Am I missing a step?

    My system:

    Mac G5 OSX version 10.5.6
    Final Cut Pro 6.0.5
    ProIO Control Panel 1.2
    AJA IoLA

    I appreciate the help

    Thanks,

    Greg

    What’s your composite source?

The composite source is a VCR. I have also tried it with a DVD player and our Sony DSR-11 DVCAM Deck. Thanks for your help.

Whhen you are in FCP and choose the proper easy setup, does the analog composite light come on?

Yeah the light comes on when a composite Easy Setup is chosen. It also comes on when I shutdown FCP and open the ProIO Control Panel and select “Composite.”

However, even though I am seeing signal on the monitor from the Composite Out on the AJA, the Control Panel is indicating no video on the Analog In.

I can’t remember. Does the ioLA control panel have an input passthrough mode?

If so, can you set the input to composite and see an image on a monitor hooked up to the LAs output?

    Jeremy thanks for your help.

There is no way to select a passthrough mode but it appears that may be a default since I am seeing video on the monitor.

I have the Monitor hooked up to the ioLA composite output. Sorry if I wasn’t clear, that is what I was indicating by this:

“However, even though I am seeing signal on the monitor from the Composite Out on the AJA, the Control Panel is indicating no video on the Analog In.”

    Again, thanks for your time.

[Greg Ammen] “There is no way to select a passthrough mode but it appears that may be a default since I am seeing video on the monitor. “

correct all outputs are active all the time.

the only time I see this as an issue is when there is more than 1 FW device on the chain.

    Hmm…

I definitely only have one FW device plugged in (the AJA ioLA.)

Also just to verify that something hadn’t hung up I checked System Profiler and the AJA is the only thing showing up on the FireWire Device Tree.

One other thing to note, which I neglected to mention and I know may be asked later, I have restarted the machine and reinstalled and updated the ProIO Control Panel.

    Thanks.

Have you ever had a composite signal, or has it just gone down? I only ask because my first AJA box never did – and was eventually returned for a replacement unit.

I would – they swapped mine straight away – great service.
