I just bought a custom MBP 15″ Retina w/ a 1 Tb flash hdd. I went to recovery mode and reinstalled the OSX and it will not let me erase that 1 Tb hdd. It appears that Apple is forcing users to leave all data in one partition. The older Mac Pros are very open to any external boot USB or flash and I was able to use that clean OSX 10.9.1 image. Fresh 10.9.1 install was a breeze w/ Mac Pros. But Mac Book Pros is locked for some strange reason, My concern is that does SSD have the same fragmentation as w/ traditional magnetic platter hdd?

The main reason for me to make a separate partition is for fewer fragmentation and easy to manage between the boot OS and the digital video working file. Should I forget 2 partitions? Is there any workaround to this?
