November 25, 2009 at 3:28 amI would try the import first to import the m2t files. When I had this problem it was from the camera hard drive.

November 26, 2009 at 6:12 amOh don’t worry people bear with me all the time on these forums, I’m a very amateur also, still in school actually. What I was saying, when I capture from my camera hard drive, I went and simply imported all of the files, which were m2t files on the hard drive, it’s the format that the HDV hard drive captured them as while filming. I would say try importing the files in from your camcorder, I’m not sure what file type they would be though. I’m also a beginner

November 30, 2009 at 3:59 amMake sure your footage settings match your Avid project settings.
i.e. if you shot footage at 24 frames per second at 1080i, make sure your project settings are 24fps at 1080i. It will keep things simple and more straight forward. If you’re running the 3.XX version of Avid, I believe you have to keep the frame rate the same…or… you can’t mix different frame rates like 29.97 and 24. If you’re running the latest version of Avid 4.XX, I believe you can mix frame rates in a project (but I haven’t tried it yet).Keith

my camera is set at 24p at 1080i….so i set the software at 23.97/1080i, and the raster demension at 1440×1080. i tried setting avid at 24p but the video does not come into the source and record monitor. when i set avid at 24p it only gives me an option of 1920×1080 raster.. and the video doesnt come threw…. but when i set the software at 23.97/1080i and the raster demension at 1440×1080 the video comes threw. so i can mix the frame rates, but for some reason i cant capture……it keep saying the (source mob edit rate 24 does not match edit rate 30)…really need your help…. -

December 1, 2009 at 8:07 amI took a quick look at the manual for your camera. Take a look at page 66 where it describes the 24p and 30p settings. At the bottom of that section it mentions that captured images are converted to 60i format and recorded on tape. That’s kind of weird but, it might have something to do with the HDV format.
Here’s what I’d do. Start a new project in Avid. Use the 1080i/59.94 settings with the raster dimensions of 1440 x 1080. Then do a test capture via firewire.
Those are the settings I use when I edit HDV. But, when I shoot HDV I use 1080i / 59.94 fps. Avid doesn’t have a 24fps 1080i setting (I’m not sure that’s even possible) only a 24fps 1080p setting, which might be why your having troubles.
I’m not sure if this helps.
Best of luck. -

December 1, 2009 at 10:38 pmwell kieth,
i tried those settings and this is the message that popped up…(exceptioned: video signal present but not captured) i looked at my manual at page 66 and seen the part about 24p and 30p are converted to 60i format…..i dont kow what else to do, i just spent all this money on my camera and avid..and it seems like i cant even get started with my first project….it gots to be a way that i can capture videos..as complex as this camera is and as complex as avid is…its hard for me to believe that i cant capture my videos….this avid media composer 3.5 is the best software out, and wont even capture my videos….is there anything else i can do..are there other suggestions….because i starting to feel like i wasted my money….
