Hi there I have seen many tutorials showing me how to create various blood effects using the various Video Co-pilot plug-ins but find that many of these don’t always produce such a realistic effect. Was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to create realistic impact blood stains from someone headbutting a wall repeatedly?

    Thanks,

    Alex

It depends on the angle. Remember, less is more. I think it looks fake on a lot of tutorials because they use to much blood. If the angle was the persons back and they where hitting the wall you really wouldn’t see much because their head would be blocking the blood left on the wall.

Make some real blood stains on a white surface, take pictures of them and composite them into the shot. Try different blending modes but I’m thinking screen.

Real elements are almost always look better than trying to create something inside computer. And definitely easier.
