Tried searching heavily for an answer to this problem…so here it goes.

I have an animation in ImageReady that’s been edited with transparency, ready to export. However, when I export and try to import into AE or even Final Cut, I lose alpha (becomes white).

This is not for web, and the Flash file wont do (unless there’s no alternative I guess).

I’m sure its an easy fix. Perhaps there is a certain format to export as? I’ve tried several different types; Animation, Uncompressed to name a few, but it becomes a variety of the same issue.

If anyone can help me I’d greatly appreciate it!
    Thanks.

i’m not too familiar with image ready…. but, what type of file did you export from image ready? if it was an amiated gif, i’m not sure how ae interprets gifs (i’ll see if i can test it), so that may be an issue.

can you export from image ready as an image sequence? if you can get a psd, png or tif sequence with alpha, ae can easily bring those in and use them as compiled footage.

other options may be to export a black and white matte from image ready to use as a track matte for the aimation in ae, or try to key the areas that need to be transparent.
