Hay, I know this must get asked alot, but can you please answer these questions with your own opinion? (Posted in both Avid and FCP forums).

What is the status of Avid in the marketplace? Is it growing or slowing?

What are the other options apart from FCP for the $250K price tag, for a full blowing Avid Suite?

What would Avid do that Final Cut Pro doesn’t? Has Avid got any major advantages for the price? Would you say operating Avid is slower etc..?

    Thanks heaps for your thoughts!

I won’t answer most of your questions, but I will ask you this question – where, in the United States – is a full blown AVID suite $250,000. I have been building AVID suites since day 1 of AVID, and I have never seen or heard of an AVID suite that costs $250,000 to build. Where did you get this price from ?

No one can answer your question, becuase you have not stated your application. Are you working with VHS machines, or HD VTR’s? Are you doing broadcast shows, or a corporate sales video ? There is quite a difference in any system, from any manufacturer – if you are doing wedding videos, or doing a broadcast show.
