I am editing on a 30″ Cinema Display set at 1600×1200 and I want to add a CRT VGA display. When I connect the 2nd monitor the video in FCP starts flickering over the same couple of frames – the audio continues okay but the video stays where it is!

Is this to do with the different resolutions? I’d like to use the 2nd monitor for the bins window or at the very least to read the transcripts in Word but even with all FCP windows on the Cinema Display the video still flickers.

I have my RT set at safe RT and Use Playback Settings.

    Thanks, Peter

Is your Canvas set to Fit to Window?

Well then the only other question I have is whether or not you have a graphics card that can handle the 30″ plus another monitor. I’m not sure the stock cards that come with the Mac’s can do this, but I don’t run the 30″ display so I don’t know for sure.

That’s an interesting point. It’s the ATI Radeon 9650 card. Thing is, I can use the 2 screens okay when working on Avid.

Amazingly Apple Support Search helped! I just had to switch the connections of the 2 displays to the card and it works! Thanks, Walter, for leading me to the Graphics Card.
