twirl or spiral a cone
Posted by Per Olsson on April 23, 2014 at 6:52 amHi!
Im having a cone Im bending back and forth in an animation. I want to shrink the length of the cone by making the cone to a spiral. I tried to bend it a lot and thought that would accomplish that effect but it just looked a bit odd. How can I properly make a cone into a spiral?

April 23, 2014 at 10:51 amI want it to turn from bending back and forth into like 9 minutes into this video. He are using a disc. is it possible to use the cone instead and the bend object?

April 23, 2014 at 2:54 pmif you substitute a cone for the cylinder he uses at ~3:00 you might get what you want. You would probably have more success using joints like he does at 25:00 (using the joints to move the cone) or use the spline stuff he is using at 16:00-ish and make your cone by sweeping a circle along that spline (with end scale of 0 to make a cone)- the mospline is probably best, a quick test shows me there would have to be a lot of joints in the IK chain to get smoothness.

April 23, 2014 at 4:47 pmOkej. now I made like this instead. Is there any way of getting the spiral more towards the top? so it only makes a spiral on the first 1/3 of the cone?
thanks

April 24, 2014 at 1:58 amnot that I know of with MoExtrude (not that that means it can’t be done) It can be done with the MoSpline though.
