  • Turn off parenting with an expression?

Posted by Brad Pickford on October 11, 2011 at 12:02 am

    Hi All,
I have a spade that is parented to a hand layer. I want the spade to follow the hand, but when the hand puts the spade down I want the parenting to stop so that the hand can move independently without the spade following it.

I was thinking of using a checkbox and an if/else statement to turn parenting on and off, but not to sure how to tap into “parenting” to write an expression.

Does anyone have any ideas to accomplish this, or an alternative?

    Cheers,
    Brad

Expressions don’t have any control over parenting. I would just split the layer where you want parenting to end, and un-parent the second piece.
