TURN OFF automatically converting images into image sequence
Every time I try and import an image into After Effects it automatically converts it into an image sequence. I know why it’s doing it because our files are labeled ex. newton_cam_001.psd and newton_cam_002.psd but does anyone know how I can prevent after effects from automatically making an image sequence. I do not want it to do that. We cannot change the file naming format for our pieces of media before you ask and we cannot store different pieces in different folders.

There is not unfortunately.

On the Import dialog box, click Options then uncheck “import as sequence.” Not terribly automatic, but it’ll let you import individual files.

It is easier to destroy than to create.
More fun, too. -
And I think it stays the way its set so the next time you import it should be set. You just have to remember to turn it back on when you want a sequence again
