I’m trying to make some footage look like it was shot on a web cam. I’m editing in FCP 6.06 and the footage is 1080p30fps shot on Panasonic HMC150. The footage is converted to ProRes and looks good, so my goal is to make it look bad. But the right kind of bad, as though shot on a pretty crappy webcam. Any suggestions how to make it have that 2004 Web Cam look?

Web cams are pretty low resolution, so exporting it to a file with a size of, say 320 or 240 pixels on the long side and then importing that would probably do it. Maybe go to a codec that gives you a low quality option, e.g., H264, then convert it back to ProRes to get some concatenation errors as well.

Thanks so much, that really did the trick. I also used the strobe filter and then added in a little noise. Really crappy video now 🙂 Now I’m looking to degrade the audio, any ideas???
