Trying to Make a Top Mask Animate to Drift Upwards

Hello Creative Cow Community!

Scenario: I Have a Lower Layer of this Black/With Open V already set. I imported another of the same Black/with Open V, but I am unsure how to make it slowly drift up, closer to the Diamond edges as the diamond dissolves.I think it may have something to do with Masking & Keyframing.

Question(s): Am I on the right track, and What should I do next?

Realized I can just put a layer before the OG layer of the the same file import. This new layer can be animated using key frames for Position.
