    Hello,

Im working for a show that delivers on dvcpro hd tape from the panasonic hdx900. I was just wondering if anyone could give reasons that converting in compressor from the canon 5d at the same resolution would be a bad idea.

Thanks for any and all advice!

Well if you are editing footage from the 900 then yes, it would be a good idea.
Drop your 900 footage (DVCPROHD) into native sequence.

Transcode 5D footage to DVCPROHD to edit smoothly.

The question is which format do you have the MOST footage from?
What format must you deliver finished master in?

Thanks for the response…It is being delivered to post on DVCPRO HD tapes..im actually hoping to get the 5d footage onto tapes via a deck at some point and then mail it that way…wasn’t sure if the added transcoding/compression would be bad for the footage to the point of it being unusable. It is for broadcast in HD and SD eventually.
