I’m coming from FCP 3 and am a bit lost.

I have my mini dv in my DV Camera ready to go, and I go File, Capture. And then window comes up saying waiting for timecode. But then nothing happens.

I had the camera set to play/vcr, then I changed that camera, but same result, nothing. What am I doing wrong? (vtr is ok)

Also, curious, did they get rid of “log and capture’ in this software. thanks!

Final Cut Express is a “lite” version of FCP. It lacks several key features such as Log and Capture. You only have the ability to CAPTURE NOW.

What is the format of the drive you are capturing to? It must be Mac OS extended…and it must be a firewire drive.

Oh, and do you have Norton and Virex installed?

thanks Shane. Wow that’s amazing, that with all they give you in this lite version, log and capture are not there, good info to know.

The scratch drive I selected is FW and is Mac OS extended.; no norton or virex.

    Try looking here:

Its for FCP, but if you upgraded Quicktime recently, it might apply to FCEx.

    Worth a shot.

I just looked and I have Quicktime 7.0.3 on my system. Is that good enough.

I just downloaded something today that came up on Software Update about FCP but it did not help.

Any other way to get my miniDV material into my HD to view it? Am at my wits end on this.

    Ah:
Got it. Tape was at the end and not beginning. Damn these tape rewinders that also go forward. I’m sure that’s it.
