I just downloaded Sony Vegas 8 Pro version. In my old version Sony Vegas 6 the footage appears on my storyboard in nice full frame viewing, ready to edit on the storyboard. In my new version (Vegas 8) the footage is compacted/truncated. I tried using various methods to “stretch” the footage so I can see it easier and work with it in nice square shaped frames but it remains squished and truncated. I havent used Vegas for a long time now but have footage I am working on now with this new version. Can anyone tell me how to change this. I am embarassed to ask such a simple question.

    thanks!

If I understand you correctly, all you have to do is hover your mouse in between the track headers (where you can label the video or audio tracks), then click and drag down. This will expand the height of the track above your mouse. To shorten or extend the length, use your mouse’s scroll wheel while having clicked on an event (on a track) or an empty portion of that same area to bring that area of Vegas to focus.

Sorry perhaps I didnt explain very well. When the footage loads on the timeline track/view it is squeezed like an accordian horizonatally. This leaves it rather difficult to work with and edit in this format. This did not occur using Sony Vegas 6 but is a new look for me to deal with in Sony Vegas Pro 8. However I did indeed solve the problem by clicking on the negative and positive signs called zoom in and zoom out on the timeline track. I apologize if I was not clearer.

    thanks
