  troubleshooting firewire: FCP quits when attemp to capture

  It seems like i have a damage in my firewire port:

  PCI firewire card was damaged, but FW ports (800×1 and 400×2) on the powerpc macpro were ok, i use to capture analogue using a datavideo simple conversion card using FW.

  The HDD is connected to the FW 400 it works well. i disconnect the HDD and attempt to capture in FC using the datavideo external capture card, when i try to capture, the window gets inmediately closed and FC quit, no message, no window, i turn off the card and repeat and FC works ok, of course there is no way to capture, the card is off powered.

  i tryed connecting the HDD to the FW 800 and then the card to the HDD using FW400.

  is stange that the HDD works well but the card does not.

  any advice?
