Sebsky tools and BWF2XML will transfer all the files I want to .mow, but when I import them into FCP4.5 and try to open certain files the viewer window closes and I get an error message saying I’m out of memory. I’ll restart FCP and some converted files will open and others will cause the same issue. I believe what is happening is that I’m working in FCP 4.5 and this won’t support BWF polyphonic files that have more than two channels. The spherico website claims that an error will occur when trying to import these files. BWF2XML also works best in FCP5 which I don’t currently have access to. Is there another program taht will just let me select which tracks to conver? Is there an option within BWF2SML or sebsky that allows that? the first track on the BWFs I know is the mono mix of all the audio channels my sound man recorded. It would be great if I could just transfer that for now. Any ideas, boys/girls. Thanks.

    Hi Jandro,

I would definetly contact Andreas direct and ask how to do this with BWF2XML. You can find his contacts on his site.

I had some trouble with polyphonic BWF, and I used a tool called BWF Manager from Fostex. It ran in classic mode and was slightly buggy, but it worked for me. There’s a link here, and it’s free:

If you want to stick with FCP 4.5, then you’ll have to convert your files from ‘polyphonic’ (more than 2 channels, I assume) to 2 channels each. IOW, You’ll have to make 2 or more files from each BWF file from the field recorder.

If it were me, I’d simply update to FCP5 & QT 7, then you only need to run your audio through Sebsky tools & be done with it.
