  • Trouble with Point of Interest in Complex 3D Comp

    Hi,

I’m having trouble with the camera’s point of interest in a complex 3D comp. I’m generally using the camera’s x, y, z axis controls along with position to make my camera moves. I’ve been leaving point of interest alone. This has worked without a problem, but in a move in which the camera has to pan about 45 degrees, the point of interest is causing the camera to skew (which I’ve corrected using the other controls including orientation), but it’s making what should be relatively simple move complex and introducing unwanted movement. Also, I’m experiencing jumping in a far background element (a sky) during the same time that the camera is trying to skew – which I believe is traceable to the same point of interest problems.

Any way to neutralize point of interest? Or is there a better way to work with it to avoid these problems?

    Thanks for your help,

    Eric

You can disable the point of interest, which would probably be the way to go if you’re ignoring it already =) Just right click on your Camera layer and go to Transform > Auto-Orient and set it to ‘Off’ (these controls are also accessible in the Layer menu).

Just another note: I like to use the camera tools to make my moves, you can cycle through these with the ‘c’ key. See how you feel about them.
