  • trouble with layers, imported illustrator file and such. CS6

i have imported an illustrator file with 38 layers.
RGB, (i saved it as CC2014 and as CS6 and the same thing occurs.)
i import the file ‘composition-retain layer size’ and the file is imported with no trouble.
then i try and bring one of the layers into a new comp (NTSC D1 Widescreen Square Pixel at 29.97 fps/drop frame) sometimes AFX will place the AI layer onto the new comp but then won’t let me bring in another layer.
Sometimes AFX will then remove the layer that i just brought in.
I can’t arrange the layers in the comp created from the illustrator file either. (the illustrator file has a weird artboard size, 2044×578).
I’ve doubled checked the frame rates for both comps to make sure they match and have removed some older scripts from the scripts folder. this is very frustrating and i haven’t found anything online that can address this problem. Can someone help me or has my software become possessed by a animation hating demon?
