    Hello,

    I am trying to output EDL’s for 5 hour long shows, and keep running into the same problem. After i open up the sequence and go to the EDL manager, set my options and click update, EDL manager keeps giving me the same error message:

    A serious program error has occured.

    Error: Assertion failed:errno==NO_ERRNO
    File: edl_sort.c, Line:86

    I’ve tried changing my options a number of different times but i keep getting the same error message. Any idea why? I’m working on a clip show with a lot of dissolves, 8 different audio tracks and usually up to 8 video tracks with stills and a lot of effects.

    I was able to do a music EDL, however, when i tried to just do the 2 main video tracks, that failed as well. Anybody ever run into this problem before? Thanks a lot.

    yep, been there! Cant’t say I recognise the exact message but odds on it can’t translate something to an edl form, or its confused with dupes or handles for a mix or b roll.

    workaround…

    try pulling an edl for each track seperately till you can attribute the error to a certain track.

    Then, pull a cuts only edl, if this works then, cut the sequence in half and pull a full blown edl, fx and all, if this fails then the error lies within this segment, repeat until you find what segment of the sequence is creating the problem, strip the fx in this area and paper log them!

    basic but hopefully effective…

    I have come to simmular problems when doing EDL’s and having the Avid open. Try this, as it works for me. Shut down the Avid and open up the EDL manager. Go to File / Open and direct it to your Bin which contains the Sequence you want to generate the EDL for…

    HINT ( make a new bin and insert a copy of the sequence you want to EDL )

    once you have done so it should generate the EDL for you.
