The quicktime installer I downloaded from apple hangs up in the middle and says something like “the feature you are trying to install is on a disc (somewhere)please insert quicktime disc”. It seems to want “quicktime.msi”. I tried downloading again, closing all apps, but same problem.
    Thanks

sounds like something on your system is corrupting the download from Apple. Are you running antivirus?
Try downloading again, be sure you’re getting it stored/tranferred completely before installing?

Thanks, but antivirus is off. Well, there is another error message after I close the first one – it says “could not uninstall older version of quicktime”. So I tried to do that myself, but nope, the windows uninstall doesn’t respond. …maybe if someone knows how to uninstall this thing “manually” it might work?
    Thanks.

I found a solution: Microsoft has a utility called “Windows Install Cleanup”. Since the uninstall programs for itunes and quicktime are screwed up, you may need this:
