I am having trouble keying Photoshop Targa files (with alpha) in Final Cut. When the keyed graphic plays over video it makes the video brighter. After the graphic goes off the screen the video returns to normal. I have tried using dissolves, cuts, and opacity to transition the graphic on and off. I get the same result. Any ideas as to what is causing this?

Yeop… save the tga files in the RGB colorspace. I’ll bet they are in CMYK…

The graphics are in RGB mode.

What’s your process for creating the alpha?

In Photoshop I merge my layers and Select Layer Transparecny. Then I go to the channels and create an alpha channel. I then fill in the selection with white. Everything else in the black is what will get keyed out. The I select the RGB channels and save out as Targa with alpha.
