  • Trouble importing XDCAM footage into FCP 7

I am having a terrible time trying to import XDCAM footage shot on a EX3, then dumped to an external drive. I have read other forums on this & downloaded the SXS driver & the XDCAM plugin, but I get no video. Only audio, & a green screen. Other times it won’t even let me do that. Any help here? Thanks!!

I typically use the XDCAM transfer utility, which then puts Quicktime .movs with the XDCAM codec–into a folder of your choice. Try downloading and using that?

Another option is to spend a few bucks and acquire the Calibrated{Q} MXF Import application. It equips Quicktime to read MXF wrapped files directly. You can edit your original media inside FCP and also browse XDCam disks, and its also something that online editors will find valuable if they are tasked with delivering XDCAm masters (closed captioned) to broadcasters.
