  • Trouble importing HDV video from I Link on Sony HVR-Z7U to Final Cut Pro 6.0.6

    Here are my system specs

    Mac OS X
    3×3 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    9 GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
    Final Cut Pro 6.0.6

I recently shot HDV footage (1080i) onto a Sony HVR-Z7U which stores the files onto an i Link drive. I first just clicked and dragged the files from the iLink onto my desktop and imported the footage from Final Cut. After reading some threads, I know this was the incorrect way as the footage was SD not HD. I found the proper download link via Sony’s website for the RAD software plugin and downloaded the version for 6.0.2 or later. However, when I went to install it, I receive a warning that reads; Sony Recording Unit RAD Plugin can’t be installed on this disk. This plugin requires Final Cut Pro 6.0.2 or later.

I’m running Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 which according to the requirements should work. Can someone please tell me why this won’t install on my MAC? Once I get this on there, I’m sure I can log and transfer the footage just fine from full HD files. Please help. I’ve exhausted most of the forums on the internet, so I’m turning to the best source I know of, the cow.
