  Trouble editing MTS video in CS4

  Hi,
  I’m having trouble editing some video in Premiere Pro CS4. The video says it’s in a version called MTS and inside PPro it looks pixellated and messed up. I’ve tried to find conversion software that will change it into something Premiere Pro likes, but I’m not having any luck there either. In fact when I bring the converted files into PPro it’s actually crashing my computer, which is a PC running Windows XP. Can anyone recommend anything to fix the problem? Is the problem CS4 is too old to deal with MTS files, or is there any other issue it might be?
  Any advice would be much appreciated.
