Trimmer hangs in Vegas Pro 9 64bit on Vista

So far Vegas Pro 9 64bit on Vista is much more stable than 8.1 64bit. It never crashes for me, and it seems more snappy. I haven’t noticed any new features that I care about other than the new darker appearance of the UI which I like. But I’m not a power user yet.
So the one problem I am having is that the Trimmer window locks up or freezes after using it for a while. The rest of the program continues working fine, but the Trimmer just freezes and won’t respond when I click on transport buttons or try to open a new file.
Anyone else having this problem? Anyone have ideas of what is causing it? This same problem happened to me in Vegas Pro 8.1 64bit also but it was just one of many instability issues, whereas now it seems to be the last remaining problem.
If I can’t find a resolution to this issue I am not going to buy the full license and instead I am going to switch to Adobe Premiere Pro and convert my AVCHD files to some other format.

I have also had major problems in 8.1 using the trimmer. My m2t files caused Vegas to crash approximately every 5 minutes when loaded into the trimmer- apart from this, I haven’t encountered many bugs in 8.1 otherwise (although I’ve only had it a month).
The question might then be, why use the trimmer?- but the workflow demanded that I insert small pieces of footage into a long timeline, for which the only realistic solution was cutting in the trimmer.
I will be upgrading to 9 (as I purchased 8.1 within a month of 9’s release) so I’ll be interested to see if the problem persists.

Has anyone else had the problems with the trimmer freezing up? If so, what hardware/OS etc are you using?
I hope Sony addresses this soon. I have the trial version of 9.0 64bit and I’m running out of time with it. I don’t want to spend all that money to have a program that doesn’t work correctly for me.
