Trim video but render it as original – Sony Vegas 10

You would think that it would be a simple thing to do but unfortunately, it’s not. Camera companies seem to be inventing knew formats every day and delivery formats have been pretty standard for a long time so you may find that you cannot render to the original camera format.

What format are your original files? Use a tool like MediaInfo if you don’t know. Then someone here can help with finding a template in Vegas Pro that matches the closest.

My videos for clipping would be Youtube HD videos (mp4), mkv and avi.
If you could recommend me the settings for exporting them to HD1080p would be great. Also, I found this video on Youtube. Is this suitable for me?

I would use MainConcept AVC with the Internet 1080p setting.

No. The person who made that video has no clue what they are doing. There is no need to use 32-bit Video processing unless you are working with 10-bit video (which you are not). Use the defaults that Vegas Pro provides and don’t change any settings unless you have a really good reason (and watching someone change them on YouTube is NOT a good reason).

I tried render one of my clips under ”MainConcept AVC” but I could not find the ”Internet 1080p setting.”.

If I will use the setting you recommended for all my clippings, when I will want to merge them in a one big video, I should use the same render settings as the clippings, right?

Sorry, You did say you are using Vegas Pro 10.0 but I didn’t remember that those templates weren’t available back then. That’s quite old. The Internet templates are under Sony AVC back in the Vegas Pro 10.0 days. Look under there instead for templates like “Internet 1920×1080-30p“. Those are the ones you want.
