Strange, for me it was the other way around. edit to tape locked up my system every time with 6.0, went back to 5.1 now it works again.
(mainly working in 625i uncompressed with digi-beta decks)

G5 (PCIe)
Kona LHe
6 GB Ram

Note I am running 10.5.4, perhaps that’s the difference.
