Hi im wondering if anyone can help me?
After hours of trying all the different solutions out there im still getting a general error (34) on one of my projects in fcp 6.0.2

The error is not stopping me from doing anything but is worrying me as i know its not good!

It happens whenever i open or export from the project in question, but not when i render. The exports are fine aswell, but the error pops up when they have finished?

If anyone can shed some light on this i would be eternally greatfull!

    [Rich Bruce] “Tried everything”

What is every thing to you?
    What exactly have you tried?

[Rich Bruce] “It happens whenever i open or export from the project in question,”

Where it is ONLY one project, most likely that one project file is corrupt or damages in some way.

Will it let you do a save as and save it as a different file name?
If so does the same thing happen with the new project?

More info on what you have already tried please we could give suggestions all night long, but we don’t know if our suggestions are included in your “everything”

Hi thanks for getting back to me,
    Ive tried:
    -deleting the prefs
-checking all the media in the project to see if anything has a size zero or is corrupt
-using disk first aid to see if its a problem with a bad sector etc on the drive
    -fcp rescue
-saving project somewhere else and moving files
    -deleting render files

    Thanks again!

Because it sounds like it is the project file that has the problem here are a couple of things to try.

Do a save as on the project thus creating a entirely NEW project.
Copy your sequences and past them into a NEW project, then save the NEW project.
Use media manager to create/copy everything to a NEW project.

what was the original fcp version software of the project when you started. if it was version 6.0.3 i believe the error is referring to the fact that you are hitting a software compatibility issue. good luck!
