  • Tricks in improving footage and skin tones shot using LED’s?

    Hi
The easy answer is don’t use LED’s if you have skin tones, but I have to CC footage already shot.
Uncorrected there is an obvious green-yellow bias to the flesh tones.

Correcting using the RGB scopes and by eye, much improved but a bit ‘thin’ looking.
There is a grey card used for reference but I found this is of little use, CC’ing for the grey card throws the skin tones off.

Has anyone had to CC footage shot with LED’s and how did you tackle reproducing flesh tones accurately?

I know this does not help but the LED’s are horrible they are missing spectrum in big negative spikes so there is nothing there. I recently talked a “producer” I was shooting for out of using LED lights in favor of Kino Flo’s with a Sony F3 and I am glad i did because we were shooting interviews. I don’t know how exactly to approach fixing the footage other than balance it and boost the color that is missing maybe using the curves.

I haven’t tried this but on those clips could you duplicate it in another time line.. boost the sat of it then mix it in to the other timeline with the new transfer modes?

I wonder if something like ring lite will also make this kind of anomalia ?

What i mean does it wary from product to product and some are better and some are not ?
