Trick for cramming 5 hrs into DVD-9?
A project just escalated from about 180 minutes to 300 minutes.
Never having made a DVD-9 DL, I have questions:
Do I have to buy a DL burner? I have a DLT tape drive to make the tapes for the duplicator.
If I don’t have a DL burner how can I verify that the DVD works?
Would it be more “prudent” to make two DVD-5’s?
What do you think of this trick to cram it all in: The content is 10 30-minute segments (yoga instruction). But 3 minutes of each lesson is a “relaxation” section. I could use the same exact video, and perhaps even music without video, for this 3 minute section.
If I structured the DVD in playlists this way:
Lesson 1, part 1
Relaxation section
Lesson 1, part 2
Lesson 2, part 1
SAME Relaxation section as above
Lesson 2, part 2
etc.
I could save 27 minutes. Or could I? If the DVD is DL, can I make a playlist that quickly crosses from one layer to another? Should I make two Relaxation Sections, one for each layer? I’d still save 24 minutes that way.If I can persuade the client to make this 3-minute section music-only, I suppose I still have to encode video, right? — but if it’s just black video, I could do it at a minimal data rate…?
