    Hello everyone!

I hope you’re having a really good week!

I’m going to the point. Two weeks ago I bought the trapcode suit because I started to learn how to use After Effects (I’m using After Effect CC 2017). I’ve been working with each plug-in step by step and I could say that Trapcode is my best friend now,but I have one problem with Trapcode Shine 2.

I watched this video and I did everything as he did

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfOc1TEwBz0

But when I set the text or the layer that I applied the effect to 3D, the plug-in just doesn’t work. The shine effects “turns off” (and yes, 3D sources work on 2D layers, I’ve checked the names a lot ot times). Thinking about it, I found the problem could be the text/layer needs to be precomposed, but when I do that, the “volumetric” lights goes “flat”. ????

If you could help me, I will be really thankful. If you need me to post my project, just tell me.

I’d recommend adding “Shine” to an adjustment layer instead of to the layer itself.

Then, if you properly parent a light (named “Shine”) to your 3D text layer, you can select “3D Light” as the ‘Source Point Type’ in Shine. From here you can move the position of that light around to create a 3d Point the light comes from.
