I’m using a Custom Paritcle with the Point Emitter (static) at the top-left of the comp – (0,-78)
Lifespan is 12. Life Random is 0.
Time Sampling is set to Random Loop

Custom Particle precomp is sized at 200×130.(8 seconds)

During previews (5 seconds), particles are emitted not only from the top-left of the comp but also from the middle. Lifespan setting is not being adhered to with particles dying off in the middle of the comp.

Switching to one of the built-in particles works fine for both the emitter location and Lifespan.

My custom particle is animated but even switching the animation off and placing it dead center in the precomp doesn’t help with the weird results. I’ve tried all the different emitters and it doesn’t help. I just want the particles to start off-screen, top-left and move off the screen, bottom/right.

I don’t recall having such issues before and haven’t done anything to the system.

    TIA

Just so that folks know – setting the inpoint of your particular layer before the start of your comp and using a custom particle can result in erroneous emitter and particle activity.

To overcome this issue, set your inpoint at time zero and then nest the particular layer. In this new comp, move the nested particular comp’s inpoint before the start of your comp.
