Transparent Images
Hello,
I’d like to know how I can preserve transparent images within a photoshop file, then import them into Illustrator without being gigantic (file size)
The only file that works that I know of is a psd (photoshop) file that has not been flattened.
any help from the COW would be much appreciated.

Why do your file sizes need to be small? For most design work, you’re better off not using compressed formats.
You can try using a 32-bit PNG file out of Photoshop, though I’m not sure how Illustrator will treat it. You can also use a TIFF file with compression turned on.
JPEG 2000 is another option, though I don’t know if Illustrator supports it, and at the very least you have to grab the plug-in for Photoshop off the install CD.
Otherwise, not many compressed files support alpha channels. PSD really is your best bet.

I was creating a file for print . . . However, I wanted to send a proof via email and the file was about 8MB.
So I had to adjust a low-res file in Photoshop to reduce the file size.
I was hoping that there could be another method to create a trasparent (alpha) channel that didn’t seem so awkward.
