Transparent Background in AE
I have a really basic question. I’m just trying to create a simple graphic in after effects with a logo and transparent background. Problem is whatever I export in Quicktime has a solid background. How do I create a composition with a transparent background and export it with the transparent background so I can use it in Final Cut Pro? I’m guessing it’s a really simple solution but I’m obviously new to AE 6.5..

Choose the Animation codec in the Quicktime format options. Only then you’ll be able to select “RGB+Alpha” as the channel mode (the bit depth will in turn automatically change to “Millions of colors+”).
Animation encoded Quicktime files won’t play in real time in Final Cut (because there isn’t a sequence preset optizimed for such files) but it’s common practice to import those and perform the (very quick) renders needed to composite them on top of any base element you may have in your FCP timeline.Adolfo Rozenfeld
