Transitions and Keyframes
Hello everyone! Was wondering if someone can answer a couple questions for me.
1) When I put a clip in the primary timeline and a text in the one above it. if I apply a transition to the text, it affects both clips. How can I apply a transition to only the text?
2) I seem to have trouble with the keyframing system. The only keyframes I can get to stick are when I open the video animation and set the keyframe that way. If I simply click on the key frame + in the inspect, it doesn’t set correctly.
3) Is there a way to edit effects and text transitions? I can’t seem to edit or change the individual parts of the text animations.

1) If you’re applying a transition to a text layer connected to a clip in the primary storyline, FCPX will create a secondary storyline for your text layer and apply the transition to the head of it. It should only apply a transition to both layers if both layers are selected in the timeine.
2) You’ll have to explain that one more. What specifically are you trying to animate? How specically are you trying to animate it? And what specifically is happening when you try?
3) Text animations and effects can be edited by opening the project in Motion 5 which you need if you want to do that sort of thing. Presuming you have Motion 5 installed, simply right-click on an effect or title in the effects browser and choose: Open a Copy in Motion. If you don’t have Motion 5, the only changes you can make are in the inspector.
