I HAVE A QUESTION WHEN I USE THE ROLL TOOL IT WORK BY ADDING my transitions BUT IT CUT MY VIDEO CLIP SORTER IS THERE A WAY WHERE I CAN ADD my transitions WITH OUT CUTTING MY VIDEO SORTER. I am using apple fcp 7 and we are using the canon fx compact which is digital clips.

No, you have to mark IN and OUT points away from the edges of the clips…in order to have “handles”…so that you can add transitions. If you start each clip at the very head and very tail, then there is nothing to add a transition too. If you want to add transitions to the clips, you need to plan for this by adding the handles.

You have to cut the video shorter. FCP isn’t like iMovie, it won’t adjust the IN points to make the transition work.
