I am using a Toshiba A505-6975 to edit. I captured in SD mode from a Canon HV 20 CC. When I put a cross fade between two clips (both SD) the preview comes up to the cross fade I get like a flashing effect. I even tried draft auto preview still flashing. I tried rendering out to a mpeg2 file and the flashing is still there. At first I thought it was that the video clip was corrupted but when I separate them and play them back they play fine.
I used 9.0 b, and 9.0 c both exhibit the same problem. Not all clips will do it. If I take the cross fade away and just do a straight cut the clips play fine. I even tried to change the transition to no avail. Has anybody else seen this?

    Thanks, Mike

If you have tried to change the transition to another transition and still get this, it sounds like something is wrong.

However, post a screen grab of the preview window showing this anomaly as well as a screen grab of your crossfade on the timeline.

And for the sake of double checking, add a completely different transition, such as barn doors or something that is obviously not a crossfade and see if you get the same flash.

I am having a similar problem with some fade-ins. That is, when I use several starting screens, packaged with Vegas 9, and I apply a fade-in to them by varying the compositing level from 0 to 100%, they flash instead of varying gradually from black to full picture.

I should clarify that this problem does not occur in High Definition either in preview or final BD from DA5.

However, when I move the rendered (high definition) file to DA5 to make a standard DVD (SD), both the preview and the final SD DVD show the flashing fade-ins.

I noticed that the flashing does not occur on solid colors, or black, but only on some pictures with gradient colors, specially from white.

This problem does not occur either if I apply fade-in to a video scene directly.

The obvious workaround is to avoid those starting screens with gradients or other trouble content. But, I would like to use all of the supplied screens when apropiate …

Has anyone found the actual fix ?
