    Hi,
Just installed FCPX 10.0.5 on my macpro 3.1 with GTX285 and ok I admit only 4GB. All good apart from about 6 transition effects, Clone Spin and Video wall being two, the others are various Stylized variations. All of them normally have handles to chose frames for the effect. The effect drags to the time line fine, it renders out ok, skims etc, but then if I click on the effect to customise it FCPX crashes instantly. I’ve logged on as a guest user, I’ve deleted perfs. Any one got any other ideas? I like FCPX and don’t want to give up on it. But as I get deeper in I have more crashes and need more work arounds than ever!

    That sounds odd…

    Try one of the following:
    – Create a new user and try run FCPX under the new user
    – try start OS X in safe mode and see if the app then will start

If one of the above fixes your problem you have a problem with a third party application on you system. Now you have to zero in on that application (which can be hard).

It it doesn’t work I would do a complete uninstall of the FCPX by using something like ‘AppZapper’ which completely removes (*zap*) the app, settings, etc. And the make a complete reinstall of the app.

The last step is to make a clean installation of your OS X

Thanks, gone down the new account route. I think I will do the clean install. Smacks of a strange piece of code to me.
