Transferring Meta-Data Columns on Premiere CS6.. from computer to computer.
Hello, I am working on a project that involves me logging a bunch of media in Prelude and sending it over to Premiere. Because I wanted the data to be searchable, I created Meta-Data Schema “SB Logging” and then the columns in that said schema.
When I send it over to Premiere it works fine, everything shows up, nothing is missing. However when transferring to using Premiere on a different computer, I can’t seem to get the meta-data to come up at all. This is where I need help.
The project is workable on our servers that are connected so that all the computers in the system can access each other’s HD’s directly so I’m not sure why the project can’t just open up identically…
Here are the things that I have tried that haven’t seemed to work:
-Opening the same Premiere file on the other computer (the meta-data schema doesn’t show up)
-Transferring over the Meta-Data Schema to the other computer (meta-data doesn’t show up on clips)
-Re-creating an identical meta-data schema on the other computer (meta-data doesn’t show up on clips)
-Opening Prelude file on other computer and then sending to premiere (schema doesn’t show up again…)I can’t seem to find the answer on the internet, anyone know how I can get past this?

Is it possible that the Metadata was saved as a Sidecar file? This is not often the standard way of saving, but you can check to see if this is the case by finding the folder where your Premiere files live and checking to see if there’s a file with the same name as your Premiere Pro project and a .xmp file extension. That’s the only thing I can think of which might have happened. Embedded metadata should travel with the file and show up properly on any computer.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately that didn’t solve my problem. We have done more tests and the problem seems to be transferring the actual meta-data “schema” from computer to another computer. When (on computer A) transfer my files from Prelude to Premiere, all the data and schema are identical and the correct data shows up in the columns. However when that Premiere project is saved and brought up on another computer (computer b), the meta-data schema isn’t there on the other computer and so it doesn’t show up.
What’s strange is that even though we copied over the meta-data xmp (from A to B, putting it in the meta-data presets folder), the correct schema doesn’t show up when the Premiere project is opened on computer B.
Could this be a result of going from Lion to Mountain Lion? that’s the only difference between these two machines.
